So, Super–T (name changed to protect the innocent :)), my favorite person from 9-5, M- F, turned me on to the coolest thing since the 8 track (why, again, didn’t those work?). No, seriously, during a big, long boring project the shoemakers elves did not get to the night before, I offered to stream one of the radio stations on my computer so we wouldn’t die from boredom. Super-T suggested I go to http://www.pandora.com/, and I had no idea what she was talking about! So I hopped on and typed it in and, I too, unleashed the powers of Pandora’s box…of music!
Not only is it so cool that I can officially say I’ve opened Pandora’s box and unleashed something, but this site makes me really, really happy. You can enter in any song or artist and it will start creating your very own play list of that band and other similar music artists who may fall into your genre of music tastes. It’s so cool! And I love that I can really tailor it to my specific tastes. See, they’ll play a song from the band/group you requested. Then they’ll play a song from another band that they think you might like based off of your original request. You can then click on a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” button and it will adjust the playlist accordingly. It really helps you steer the songs and artists to exactly what you want to hear.
Now, as a friend informed me, I’m totally out of loop and this has been around for sooo long. That I’m sure is true ‘cause I often fear I’m one step away from the generations of people terrified by the “World wide web” and technology (gosh, I hope I’m not that bad), but there’s gotta be someone, anyone out there that hasn’t heard of Pandora.com, and if I can touch one person then this blog was all worth it, right? :)
Registration is free and it keeps record of all the radio stations you create. Check out http://www.pandora.com/
